ISLAM AND CHRISTIANITY CONVERGE?
ISLAM PROTECTS INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY
Islam influences Arabian
Peninsula culture. Saudi Arabia has remained a Muslim nation that prioritizes
its citizens' safety and Arab heritage and culture.
Saudi
Arabia is Islam's spiritual center. Muslims consider Allah God and Mohammad His
Prophet. More than a billion people worldwide identify as Muslims.
Saudi
Arabia has a special place in the Islamic world because Muslims worship towards
Makkah and the Ka'abah. Islamic history and culture are needed to understand
Saudi Arabia's Islamic roots and leadership among Arab and Muslim countries.
Saudi
Arabia's Makkah and Madinah are Muslim pilgrimage sites. Al-Aqsa Mosque in
Jerusalem, where Mohammad ascended to heaven, completes the Islamic holy
trinity.
ISLAM/MUSLIMS \SMUSLIM?
Muslims
accept the same truth as God's prophets. Almost one-fifth of the world's population
is Muslim. Most Muslims abhor violent extremism and follow peace, generosity,
and forgiveness.
One
billion Muslims came from the Philippines to Nigeria. Indonesia has the largest
Muslim population, Muslims dominate parts of Asia and Africa, and there is a
considerable Muslim minority in the Soviet Union, China, North and South
America, and Europe.
Saudi
Arabia is Islam's center. Saudi Arabia and the Arabian Peninsula are influenced
by Islam.
PROPHET'S ARRIVAL
Mohammad
was born into Makkah's royal family around 570 AD. Makkah's prosperity is due
to Abraham and Ishmael's Ka'abah. During pre-Islamic polytheism, the Ka'abah
was encircled by shrines. Sixth-century Makkah was a commercial hub.
As
a young orphan, Mohammad spent time among Bedouin nomads, where he learned an
appreciation for Arabic. Mohammad traveled in a caravan before converting to
Islam.
610:
Gabriel revealed God to Mohammad. God sent Mohammad to declare his oneness.
Islam implies "surrender to God"
Prophet
Muhammad's popularity soared when he was told to spread the message of God's
oneness. Most Makkans didn't believe God's message via Muhammad.
Traditionalists feared Islam's monotheism, while businessmen feared pilgrims'
wealth. Muhammad and a few companions left Yathrib for Madinat Al-Nabi in 622.
The Islamic calendar and culture began with the Hijrah, also called Madinat
Al-Nabi. After Muhammad's death, his followers clashed with Makkah's pagans.
When Muhammad and his companions came to Makkah in 628 and destroyed the idols
from the Ka'abah, the people converted to Islam.
After
Islam's founding, the Islamic Empire spread to Spain, India, and China. Islam
makes no discrimination based on race, class position, or place of origin.
During
Islamic dominion (which lasted until the 17th century), Islamic civilization
made breakthroughs in science, medicine, literature, and the arts.
BELIEVERS
Islam
is a faith-based lifestyle. It sets norms for law, family, trade, business,
etiquette, attire, nutrition, and hygiene for individuals, organizations, and
states. The ummah is a global Muslim community united in Islam and God. In
Islam, everyone is equal before God.
The
Qur'an is Mohammad's divine revelation. The prophetic era ends with Mohammad. Since
the 7th century, the Holy Qur'an has inspired, guided, and governed Muslims.
Sunnah (Prophet Muhammad's teachings and sayings) is an important supplement to
the Quran since it includes Hadith.
Shari'ah
governs all elements of a Muslim's life: personal, professional, social,
economic, religious, and political.
FIVE ISLAMIC PRINCIPLES
Faith
is Islam's cornerstone. "There is no God but God, and Muhammad is His
Messenger" is enough for a Muslim to show loyalty to Islam and attest to
God's oneness.
Salah: Pray. Muslims may engage personally with God. Makkah,
Islam's holiest city, is worshipped at sunrise, midday, sunset, and night.
Fridays are religious. It's OK to pray alone, although it's not recommended.
Muslims may pray anywhere, including their homes, companies, and public spaces.
Zakat: Give to the needy. Zakat, or charity, is a core concept for
Muslims. Islamic law requires Muslims to give zakat to the poor. This figure
represents 2.5% of one's discretionary income after other expenses and duties.
Ramadan: Ramadan is a Muslim fasting month. The Quran instructs
Muslims to fast to become closer to God. Fasting increases self-discipline and
compassion for the impoverished. From dawn to dusk, eating, drinking, and other
sensual pleasures were forbidden throughout Ramadan. Ramadan greetings. Muslims
worldwide break their fast with iftar at dusk, perform tarawih after evening
prayer, and flood the streets with excitement. Eid Al-Fitr marks the end of
Ramadan. New clothes and gifts for the youngsters are given to celebrate.
Hajj:
Hajj is the fifth pillar and most conspicuous display of Muslim faith and
unity. Hajj is a once-in-a-lifetime religious practice for Muslims. Two million
Muslims do the Hajj each year. A pilgrim does the Hajj in the same order as the
Prophet Muhammad.
The
five pillars of Islam may create common ground for all Muslims.
RISING ISLAM
After
its initial appeal, Islam spread over the Arabian Peninsula. Islam dominated
the Middle East and North Africa for a century. Islam formerly ruled Spain,
India, and China. Islam's religion and political-legal system created order and
justice.
Islam
created enormous communities and cultural centers. Muslim world connected
eastern and western cultures when traditional and new ideas mingled. Muslim
thinkers and artists have advanced. Islamic culture is one of history's
greatest cultural achievements due to its vast, diverse traditions. Islam
influenced the European Renaissance.
In
the 20th century, Islam reemerged as a political and economic force. Islam has
evolved into a lively, sophisticated religion with a global impact despite
changing cultural norms and societal expectations. Peace, equality, tolerance,
and justice are key Islamic concepts that have influenced many cultures and
civilizations spiritually and morally.
ISLAMIC PERSPECTIVE
You're
merciful, Lord.
Muslims
believe in a single, transcendent God, His angels and prophets, the Day of
Judgment, the moral value of one's conduct, and an afterlife. Adam, Noah,
Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Job, Moses, Aaron, David, Solomon,
Elias, Jonah, John the Baptist, and Jesus are honored by Muslims. Gabriel gave
God's last message to Mohammad, reaffirming eternal truth.
WHO CHOOSES ISLAM?
When
a believer says, "There is no god but God, and Mohammad is God's
Messenger," they demonstrate trust in all of God's messengers and their
messages.
HOW IS ISLAM UNIQUE?
Islam
may look harsh or alien to modern audiences. Westerners don't let religion
dictate their lives, but Muslims don't differentiate between secular and
sacred. Religion and spirituality are vital because they take Shari'a
seriously.
ISLAM AND CHRISTIANITY'S ORIGINS
No.
They may be traced to Abraham and his four sons: Ishmael (through Mohammad),
Isaac (through Moses), Jacob (through Jesus), and Esau (via the Lawgiver, or
Torah). Abraham created Makkah and Islam's holiest building, the Ka'abah.
KA'ABAH'S TEMPLE
Four
thousand years ago, God told Abraham and Ishmael to build the Ka'abah. Adam's first
home was likely this stone structure. Pilgrims answer Abraham's call with "At Thy service, O Lord"
(Psalm 116:9), meaning God compelled Abraham to come.
MOHAMMAD (S.A.W.W)
Mohammad
was born around 570, when Christianity was young. His Quraish uncle reared him
when his parents died. His candour, friendliness, and honesty earned him a
reputation as a fair and impartial arbitrator by adulthood. Historiographers
call him perceptive.
Mohammad
hated his time's filth. He meditated at the Cave of Hira on Jaba al-Nur, the
"Mountain of Light," near Makkah.
WHO MADE HIM GOD'S PROPHET?
At
40, while on a solitary contemplative retreat, Mohammad received his first
revelation from God. Qur'an was revealed over 23 years.
As
soon as he began proclaiming the truth God had revealed to him, as Gabriel had
instructed him, he and his followers faced resistance. God commanded departure
in 622. Hijra, or migration from Makkah to Madinah, begins the Islamic
calendar.
After
a long absence, the Prophet and his companions returned to Makkah and founded
Islam. Before the Prophet's death at 63, Islam had spread across Arabia and to
Spain and China a century later.
ISLAM'S GROWTH IS WORLDWIDE
Islam's
quick and apolitical growth may be due to its clear belief in a single God. It
benefits the intellect and introduces new experiences.
After
the Prophet said that "seeking knowledge is a Muslim's job," colleges
sprung up all across the Islamic world, leading to breakthroughs in medicine,
arithmetic, physics, astronomy, geography, architecture, art, literature, and
history. Islam helped medieval Europe create mathematics by popularizing
algebra, Arabic numbers, and zero. The astrolabe, quadrant, and dependable
nautical charts allowed Europeans to explore undiscovered territories.
Qur'an: Gabriel conveyed God's words to Muhammad. Muhammad recalled
it, told his Companions, and had scribes examine it. Since Muhammad received it
1400 years ago, the Qur'an hasn't been modified. Its 114 chapters, or Suras,
retain their original language and meanings.
Where
can I get Quran info?
The
Qur'an guides the Muslim faith and practice. The main focus of the book is the
relationship between God and His creation. It supports a fair society, good
individual behavior, and a thriving economy.
OTHER HOLY SOURCES?
Sunna
is Islamic law's second source. A Prophet-attributable speech, action, or
authorization. Islam's tenets include following the Sunna.
PROPHETIC QURAN QUOTES:
· God
won't have mercy on a cruel person.
· When
a person wants the same things for his brother as for himself, that's true
trust.
· True
believers "eat while a friend goes hungry."
· Honest
entrepreneurs are revered as prophets, saints, and martyrs.
· True
strength is self-control under stress, not physical aggression.
· God
looks at people's hearts, not their appearances.
The
walker needed water. He climbed a well to satiate his thirst, then dropped.
Then he observed a dog licking the ground. The man returned to the spring to
refill his shoe and give it to the thirsty dog. Lord has forgiven his sins.
Prophet, will animal compassion be rewarded? He remarked, "All living
things deserve compassion."
Bukhari,
Muslim, Tirmidhi, Bayhaqi hadith.
ISLAMIC FIVE PILLARS
Believing
in God, praying often, helping the poor, avoiding sin, and doing the Hajj if
possible.
Faith
No
other deity is worthy of devotion but Muhammad. All Muslims recite the Shahada.
The Arabic word for "god" (ilaha) may mean money, power, or other
things. Illa'Llah refers to the Creator God. "Mohammad is God's
messenger" means we may access celestial knowledge.
Prayer
Salah
consists of Muslims' five daily mandatory prayers. Each community picks a
Qur'an expert to lead worship since Islam has no priests or higher authority.
These five prayers come straight from the Qur'an and are done in Arabic, the
language of Revelation. Individual prayers may be delivered in any language.
Sunrise,
midday, evening, and nighttime prayers divide the day. A Muslim may pray in
farms, businesses, factories, and universities. Muslim faith and lifestyle
center on daily prayers.
Zakat
God
owns everything, thus people only hold his money. Zakat, or giving to the poor,
is a kind of purification and development, like pruning plants.
Every
Muslim must calculate zakat. 2.5% annual capital contributions are usual.
A
pious person may donate as much sadaqah as they like, but discreetly. The
Prophet expanded the idea of charity to include just smiling at a brother.
What
if he can't work as the Prophet instructed? What good is he if he can't help
the needy? "He should urge excellent actions," stated the Prophet.
What should he do?" The Prophet counseled avoiding evil and generosity.
Ramadan
Muslims
fast all month during Ramadan. Pregnant or nursing women, the elderly, and travelers
are free from fasting and may make up missing days later. If they are unable to
do so due to sickness or injury, they must feed a hungry person for one day.
Fasting
is healthy, but it's also used to purify the body. Fasting, even for short
durations, promotes spirituality and empathy for the hungry.
Hajj to Mecca (Hajj)
Only
those who can attend the annual Hajj to Makkah. 2 million Muslims
undertake the pilgrimage to Makkah each year.
Makkah
is substantially more congested than normal as the Hajj starts (which is lunar,
not solar, so Hajj and Ramadan fall sometimes in summer, sometimes in winter).
Those seeking God dress simply to remove social and cultural boundaries.
Pilgrims
do the Hajj by performing seven rounds of the Ka'abah and seven trips between
Safa and Marwa to collect water. They then seek God's forgiveness on the plain
of Arafa, which symbolizes the ultimate judgment.
Millions
of Saudis now enjoy clean water, easy public transit, and cutting-edge medical
treatment owing to the country's growth.
The
end-of-Ramadan feast, Eid al-Fitr, and Eid al-Adha are Islam's two most
significant festivals.
ISLAM RESPECTS OTHER RELIGIONS?
Because
God is fair, He bans being friendly to people who disagree with you or want to
evict you.
Because
Islamic law protects minorities, the Islamic world has more non-Muslim houses
of worship. Caliph Omar, who seized Jerusalem in 634, gave all faiths religious
freedom.
Islamic
law allows non-Muslim minorities to form their own family courts.
Muslims see Jesus
Jesus
ranks high among God's Messengers, thus Muslims await his return. "Peace
be upon him" is the Muslim greeting for Jesus. The Qur'an affirms Jesus'
virgin birth, making Mary the purest woman.
'Behold!
"You're
the most pious lady on earth," the angel said. God informs you that your
son, Jesus, will become the Messiah and be reconciled to God. He'll converse
well and have a pure heart.
OMG!
A son without sexual activity seems inconceivable. God makes anything He wants,
he said. God's "Be!" is enough to make things true.
God's.
Jesus
was born with the same power that fatherless Adam.
Jesus,
as the second man, symbolizes God as Adam did. "Be!" he cried.
"
from scratch (3:59)
Throughout
his ministry, Jesus performed miracles. Bible says:
I
have a sign from your Lord: I build a clay bird, give it life, and it flies
away. God gave me the ability to cure blindness, leprosy, and death. (3:49)
Muhammad
and Jesus came to revive the prior prophets' belief in One God. Jesus said he
came to do this.
Here's
the law. I am your Lord's symbol; fear God and obey me (3:50)
Man
said:
Anyone
who recognizes the reality of Paradise and Hell and thinks there is no god but
God, alone and without a partner, that Muhammad is His message, that Jesus is
God's servant and messenger, and that His word was breathed into Mary and a
spirit emanated from Him will be accepted to Paradise. (Bukharihadith)
WHY DO MUSLIMS PRIORITIZE FAMILY?
Islam
prioritizes nuclear families. Spiritual development requires household harmony
and stability. Children seldom leave their extended families before marriage,
contributing to their social order.
MUSLIM WOMEN?
In
Islam, unmarried or married, women may possess property and spend their money.
The new spouse gives the bride her surname and dowry.
Muslim
countries have distinct fashion traditions for women since they must wear more
modestly than men.
His
words:
The
most religious spouse is generally the most loving.
Is
having several wives allowed in Islam?
Islam
is adaptable since it was revealed for all eras and cultures. The Qur'an urges
a husband to treat a second wife with respect.
ISLAM AND CHRISTIANITY CONVERGE?
In
Islam, marriage is a legal contract where any side may set the conditions.
Country-to-country, marriage ceremonies vary widely. In severe instances,
divorce is possible. No Muslim girl will be forced to marry; her parents will
propose to appropriate males.
Islam
doesn't have senior healthcare retirement communities. Parental care may lead
to personal development. God wants us to remember our parents' love as defenseless
children and pray for them. "Paradise resides at the feet of
mothers," said the Prophet, expressing reverence for mothers. Muslims
are required to care for their aging parents.
It's
Islam's second-highest responsibility for children to serve their parents.
Reacting adversely to elderly misbehavior is horrible.
The
Qur'an says to worship only God and to respect parents. If they outlive you,
show them respect and affection. My Lord!"
Exclamation
Remember that they cared for me as a baby, so be sympathetic. (17:23-4)
ISLAM, LOSS
This
life is a dress rehearsal, according to Islam. Afterlife, Judgment Day,
Resurrection, and Heaven and Hell are basic doctrines. A Muslim is cleaned by a
relative, buried the same day they die, and a prayer is spoken over them.
Muslims see this as their ultimate chance to show their affection and ponder on
their mortality. The Prophet said a child's prayers, compassion, and intellect
may benefit a person beyond death.
MUSLIM-CONFLICT
Islam,
like Christianity, allows self-defense, religious defense, and exile warfare.
It prohibits injuring innocent people, property, and animals. Muslims think
injustice would triumph if good people didn't die for a cause. Quran:
Fight for God, but don't overreach. God hates sinners. (2:190)
For
everyone's sanity, I hope they seek peace with you. God knows everything you
tell Him. (8:61)
FOOD?
Despite
having fewer dietary restrictions than Jews and early Christians, Muslims
forbid pork and wine. According to the Prophet, your body has rights over you.
The
Prophet told his people to pray for health.
ISLAM PROTECTS INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY
The
Quran says religion is personal (2:256)
An
Islamic state protects Muslims and non-Muslims equally.
Muslims
can't understand racism since the Qur'an says all people are equal.
Menschheit!
We created man and woman from the same spirit and organized them into countries
and tribes so they could understand each other. God praises your charity. God
knows everything. (49:13).
